Many people think of Maya as the illusory world of which we are a part. This often carries a negative judgment, that Maya is the veil, clouding our vision to spirit.

Another way to experience the reality of Maya is through the deeper understanding that Maya is actually an expression of Prakriti, Nature, Shakti, and the divine feminine principle herself made manifest in our world. The dance of Shakti pulses through all and everything. She is the world herself, the expression of nature and the cosmos. Through her divine body, we are graced to experience the ecstasy of our own nature.

But, it is true to say that we live in a world which subjugates this very experience. Nature has been demonized, the body made profane, filthy and left unrealized. We have abandoned the seed of our own great goddess planted within us at conception.

The exile of the divine feminine can be seen very clearly through the realization that there is a Gospel of a Mary Magdalene.

This exquisite gospel was discovered on a piece of 5th Century Papyrus, and is part of a series of deeper gnostic teachings unearthed at Nag Hammadi in 1945. These are some of the most mystical, sacred texts one could read. And yet these texts were burned and buried, expelled from the canons of the church, with the intention that they should never be seen again.

The principle of the sacred feminine, the royal queen herself was banished from the great Western Kingdom, forced underground for nearly 2000 years years into secrecy and into shame. Her exile has been long and complete.

But she rises, as nature rises, like weeds through the pavement. For she is nature and the body herself.

The war on nature, the war on the body, the war on life that we are witnessing today is truly a war on her. It is a war on the most sacred expression of Prakriti, Shakti herself, and the complete subjugation of her brilliance into a world where she is utterly dominated. When you understand the energetics of this profound situation, the root could not be more clear.

But this domination will never happen.

The union of Shiva and Shakti, the divine principles of masculine and feminine both within the self, and within the world, are being called now to clarify, to purify, to harmonize, and to unify.

The seer and the seen, Purusha and Prakriti, Shiva and Shakti, the witness and the experience, the King and the Queen, balanced within the spiraling experience of the human spine, a reflection of nature’s harmony and the unification of matter and spirit.

For as much as the divine feminine has been banished, demonized, and ridiculed, so has the divine masculine, whose forces have been perverted and used in this great play of force for thousands of years.

When the Great Queen returns to herself, the Great King will follow. For they walk hand and hand, and have never been truly separate.

When we rise, we will rise together, a reflection of the sacred spiral in the center of every human life.

Mystery will never die
