Healing the Lines and Recovering the Life of the Human Soul / by Maré Hieronimus

Part I

The ability to work with our lineages of generational and ancestral trauma is one of the single most important aspects of our lives. And yet it is given very little time and space in this culture. Moreover, very few human souls even know how to begin this deeper healing process, which is so vitally important to our entire evolutionary experience.

No other aspect of our lives gives the potential opportunity to liberate the self and the lineages from which we spring in such profound ways. Healing these wounds that have festered and been passed down for hundreds and sometimes thousands of years is an act of immense power and importance which has the potential to free not only our selves, but also souls of the past, while instantly liberating future generations.

When one is living through ancestral trauma, (which we all are to greater or lesser degrees) often times they do not even understand that this is the case. The body system has acclimated to such a degree that living in another way is not only foreign, but completely terrifying. Motivations are clouded by the wounds that have perverted and inverted the soul experience, and are laced with arrogance, narcissism, shame and self-loathing, and above all the profound experience of exile and the fragmentation of the human spirit.

This is the result of this great woundedness, where often times parts of our selves have been left abandoned and discarded in order to cope with the trauma, and we experience soul loss. Soul loss leaves us in a state of profound emptiness, where we have literally outcast the most essential and vital aspects of our selves in order to fit in to a family, and a culture, which does not recognize the life of the spirit.

When we acclimate to our generational trauma, as most of us have, we become comfortable in that state of being and living. We often live in varying degrees of fight / flight / freeze / fawn, unable to allow the nervous system to down shift into a state of conscious relaxation. When the system is finally able to relax and let go, one falls asleep and goes completely unconscious, unable to maintain in a state of supple wakefulness which is both easeful and alert.

Instead, the system has been acclimated to constant and low grade levels of terrorism. When given the opportunity to move out of this state, most people will choose to stay in the loop of what is known, for it provides a feeling of comfort. This is why healing must involve the somatic experience of the body, as we learn new ways to balance the body systems once again so that we might move towards the embodied experience of harmony.

This is like a bird who has only known life in a cage. Moving beyond the experience of the imprisonment of such a cage takes time, radical compassion, and deep soul bravery.

To add to this, often when one moves to heal the lines, one faces an enormous amount of anger and blockage from the family of origin, for all people within the family are acclimated to the lineages of trauma, and most are unwilling to be with it. This is suppprted by the culture at large.

Therefore, the one who seeks healing is often stigmatized and belittled, ostracized and sometimes even exiled. This person poses an existential threat to the systems of trauma that have been in place for generations upon generations through the family life.

So it is also within our culture at large, where violence and narcissism are often rewarded, and humility and empathy are seen as a liability. We have witnessed this play out en masse these last years, where the simple refusal to engage the deeper questions have led to mass obedience, denial, and medical totalitarianism. The root cause of these ongoing atrocities remains the inability to heal the trauma that we are bathed within, generationally. This bedrock of trauma naturally gives way to blind obedience and tyranny, for this is what we also have been often taught through our experiences of ancestral trauma embedded within family life.

This is why to battle with such forces is truly the path of a spiritual warrior engaged with the deepest heart of liberation, sovereignty, and freedom - where the liberator seeks above all to break generational curses that prevent us from engaging the questions. Through this engagement, one becomes the most embodied, sublime and empowered versions of themselves.

Through these acts of enormous soul bravery that often go unseen and unspoken, ridiculed or belittled, we re-weave the very fabric of the deepest strata of our family life while freeing ourselves from the cage of our own imprisonment.

Through these acts of enormous bravery, heart by heart, soul be soul, moment by moment, we free the human race.
